Your BBB is hearing about companies that are harassing homeowners in the areas affected by the Waldo Canyon fire. Although some companies had been contacting consumers to solicit inspections before the fire, others are swooping in using fear tactics to convince homeowners that they have no other choice but to use the businesses’ services or products.
A number of companies are calling consumers who lost their home in the fire to once again offer to check equipment – even though the entire home was destroyed and the homeowners never had that equipment in the first place when their home was intact.
One savvy consumer advised a company that they may want to alter their calling list to avoid the 80919 zip code because many homes were destroyed by fire and such calls are not welcome at this time.
This is occurring even when the homeowner is on the “do not call list.”
